Reporting into the Delivery Team Leader this role is responsible for the timely delivery of materials to customers within a specified geographic area, ensuring the highest standard of customer care. This will involve optimising deliveries, integrated road logistics planning and haulage utilisation for the Witherley Services business. The Delivery Planner will understand vehicle availability, all possible sources of supply, costs of purchase and haulage, margin management and customer requirements. They will use this information to supply materials and services at the maximum possible margins whilst ensuring the customer receives the highest standard of Customer Service.
Responsibilities
- Positively influence the haulier's perception of Witherley Services
- Build closer relationships with haulage partners both franchise and external.
- To deploy haulage resource to ensure all Customer orders are fulfilled with optimum benefit to both the Customer and the Business.
- Share and broadcast information regarding transport capacity and material availability to our commercial and customer service teams
- Ensure all customer orders and haulage details are entered onto the day sheets.
- Review, maintain and operate Navman system.
- Coordinate contingency planning when there are issues with suppliers, customers, and hauliers. Ensure that administration of actions is comprehensive and completed promptly.
- Liaise with Customer Service Representatives on a daily basis to anticipate potential customer service issues/shortfalls/over shipments and seek to offer assistance to enable resolution.
- Maintain awareness of current Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance requirements relating to company policies
- Ensure the Haulier and Driver Compliance database is current and accurate.
- Identify and communicate any potential new suppliers or sales opportunities to Business Managers
- Ensure haulage rates are negotiated, agreed, and administered accurately.
