Overview:
We have a management opportunity for an inspirational O&M manager who has extensive experience of operating & maintaining sewage treatment and associated wastewater assets.
The role will encompass the operation & maintenance of the latest nutrient removal technology plus conventional sewage treatment processes across a developing portfolio of assets based primarily in the Southeast of the UK.
As such the candidate will have experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors but essentially will have leadership & practical experience of end-to-end operation & maintenance of sewage treatment assets and processes.
This is a strategically important role, and the successful candidate will shape the O&M strategy, selecting & recruiting the O&M team, assisting in commissioning new sites & assets as well as operating the asset portfolio.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Recruit, develop and manage the Operations and Maintenance team
  • Managing numerous operational sites spread over a relatively wide geographic area (it is expected that travel between sites will be frequent)
  • Manage specialist external contractors (where required) responsible for maintaining our non-infrastructure assets
  • Develop & maintain a comprehensive maintenance programme and experience of writing business cases to successfully gain approval for capital investment would be advantageous
  • Support the development of the health and safety strategy to ensure these fundamentals are at the heart of everything you and your team do
  • Being part of a standby duty rota (it is anticipated that some unsociable hours will be required to be worked).
  • Managing operational budgets.
  • Writing and providing training in safety standards, and SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures).

Technical

  • Demonstrable experience of operating in compliance with wastewater permits and related regulatory requirements (e.g. EA, UWWTD).
  • Experience of managing operational budgets, balancing risk & value in decision making as well as identifying solutions to improve the sustainable operating costs of the asset portfolio.
  • Experience of using O&M / CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Building and owning technical stakeholder relationships with regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency.
  • Experience of ISO Quality Assurance Systems demonstrable with evidence of working with both Integrated & Environmental Management Systems (IMS/EMS).
  • Knowledge/application of Process Safety Management principles & systems essentially to include experience of HAZOP assessments.


Qualifications:
· Full Driving Licence.
· Recognised management safety qualification, such as IOSH.
