Reporting into the Logistics Solutions Manager, this role is responsible for the timely delivery of materials to customers within a specified geographic area, ensuring the highest standard of customer care. This will involve optimising deliveries, integrated road logistics planning and haulage. The Logistics Area Lead will understand vehicle availability, all possible sources of supply, costs of purchase and haulage, margin management and customer requirements. They will use this information to supply materials and services at the maximum possible margins whilst ensuring the customer receives the highest standard of Customer Service.

  • Full ownership of all delivery activity in a geographical area.
  • Lead and manage the geographical area which the Logistics Area Lead has responsibility for, focusing on fulfilling orders to meet the customer's expectations.
  • To deploy haulage resources to ensure all Customer orders are fulfilled with optimum benefit to both the Customer and the Business.
  • Share and broadcast information regarding transport capacity and material availability to our commercial and customer service teams
  • Liaise with Customer Service Representatives on a daily basis to anticipate potential customer service issues/shortfalls/over shipments, and seek to offer assistance to enable resolution.
  • Coordinate contingency planning when there are issues with suppliers, customers and hauliers. Ensure that administration of actions is comprehensive and completed promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with other stakeholders to maximise overall service offering.
  • Be the lead communicator to other teams ensuring any events, issues or limitations are cascaded through the business.
  • Ensure all customer orders are planned as part of next day planning responsibilities.
  • Ensure the completion of same day Customer orders and the review and investigation of any shortfalls.
  • Manage the haulage fleet for their respective areas, keeping haulier earnings even and in line with the appropriate tier expectations.
  • Build closer relationships with haulage partners both franchise and external.
  • Set haulage rates inline with the haulage schedule. ensure rates are negotiated, agreed and administered accurately.
  • Maintain and operate the Navman tracking & telematics system.
  • Review, maintain and operate the planning tool.
  • Oversee the quality and accuracy of the order information entered into the planning tool.
  • Ensure Haulier and Driver Compliance when allocating deliveries.
  • Identify and communicate any potential new suppliers or sales opportunities to Business Managers
  • Monitor "Change of Source" discretion.
  • Ensure resolution of any Administration Queries or EMC's within the appropriate time frame.
  • Support and process, where required, Customer orders in accordance with the order taking process
  • Delivery of continuous improvement efficiency targets within business planning operations.
  • Proactively contribute to continuous improvements of area and business.
