As a Civil Engineering and Highways Infrastructure Estimator, you will be responsible for compiling estimates for both external clients and internal business units. You will work autonomously to undertake estimates in line with client requirements and perform comprehensive analysis of tender documentation, highlighting key risks to the bidding team and raising appropriate clarifications via the Bid Manager. You will utilize appropriate software to undertake take-off of quantities and build-up tender price from first principles.

Package:             £55,000 - £60,000
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile estimates for civil engineering and highways infrastructure projects for both external clients and internal business units.
  • Undertake estimates in line with client requirements and perform comprehensive analysis of tender documentation.
  • Utilize appropriate software to undertake take-off of quantities and build-up tender price from first principles.
  • Liaise with Senior/Lead Estimator(s) to drive efficiency and increase the 'competitive edge' in estimates.
  • Provide guidance to Trainee/Apprentice Estimators to aid in their development.
  • Maintain a library of base labour and plant costs to facilitate the completion of tenders.
  • Attend sites and client meetings and provide guidance when necessary.
  • Engage with procurement teams to obtain material and subcontract pricing when required and provide queries and feedback as appropriate.
  • Work to produce accurate and compliant tenders with due account of risks and opportunities present as agreed with the appropriate delegate during tender commission.
  • Adhere to the approved estimating process and ensure stage gates are observed when appropriate.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive handover is undertaken, and commercial and operational teams have an appropriate understanding of the estimate.
  
Requirements:
  • Appropriate higher education qualification in Construction/Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar or equivalent role.
  • Suitable construction qualification and training course attendance.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Strong awareness of civil engineering/Highways.
  • Strong in the use of estimating software/MS suite of software.
  • Client-focused with regular dialogue and interaction - Internal/External.
