We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Highway Operative who will be responsible for maintaining and repairing highways, ensuring the safety of road users, and reducing traffic congestion. Working as part of a dynamic team, you will carry out a range of duties including highway maintenance, road marking, winter maintenance, and gritting. This role requires an individual with the ability to work outside in all weather conditions, operate machinery, and carry out manual tasks.

Salary: £31,200 Per Annum (Paid Weekly)
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake maintenance and repairs to highways, including patching, surfacing, and pothole repairs
- Install and maintain road markings, signs, and bollards to ensure safe and efficient travel for all road users
- Carry out winter maintenance, including gritting and snow clearance, to maintain road safety in hazardous conditions
- Respond to emergency call-outs to clear debris or deal with incidents on the highways
- Operate machinery such as mini diggers, road sweepers, and other specialist equipment to ensure efficient and effective maintenance of highways
- Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and risk assessments
- Keep accurate records of all works carried out and materials used to support efficient delivery of services
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to ensure the highest standards of service delivery
- Liaise with members of the public and other stakeholders to address any concerns or issues related to highway maintenance, ensuring effective communication at all times.
- CSCS Card
- Full UK driving license
- Relevant experience in highway maintenance or a similar role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative to effectively manage tasks
- Experience in operating machinery and carrying out manual tasks
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
