About Jennie

What sector do you manage at HSQ?

As Associate Finance Director, I oversee the financial operations across all sectors and work closely with each team.

What do you enjoy most about working within the recruitment industry?

The recruitment industry is incredibly dynamic and fast-paced. I enjoy being part of a business that helps people take life-changing steps in their careers while also enabling companies to grow and thrive. From a finance perspective, it’s rewarding to contribute to a company that’s genuinely making a difference.

Can you share a career milestone or standout moment?

A standout moment in my career was implementing a new financial reporting system that significantly improved the way we track performance across the business. It gave teams clearer visibility of their progress and allowed leadership to keep track. It was a major project that required collaboration across departments, and seeing the positive change it brought was incredibly rewarding.

What can clients and partners expect when working with you and your team?

Clients and partners can expect a team that is transparent, and solutions-focused. We prioritise integrity and aim to provide strategic support that goes beyond the numbers.

What advice would you give to someone looking to develop into a leadership role in recruitment?

Stay curious and be willing to learn all aspects of the business - not just your desk. Leadership in recruitment is about developing people, managing change, and understanding the impact of your decisions. Build strong relationships, listen to others, and stay grounded.

How do you think your team/colleagues would describe your leadership style in three words?

Supportive, Analytical and Approachable.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and exploring the outdoors. I also like listening to podcasts - anything that helps me switch off and relax.

Is there a motto that guides your leadership at HSQ?

Lead with clarity, act with integrity. I believe in setting clear expectations, being consistent, and always doing the right thing - even when it’s not the easiest route.

How has your role evolved since you first entered the recruitment sector?

When I first joined, my role was very much focused on traditional financial reporting and compliance. Over time, it has evolved into a much more strategic function. I now play a key part in business planning, growth, and operational decision-making alongside the leadership team.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?

People are at the heart of every successful business. No matter how strong the strategy or numbers are, it’s the people who execute the vision. Investing in relationships and communication is just as critical as managing the finances.
